KPMG Launch Pad Assessment Centre Tests Guidance To Pass In First Attempt

KPMG Launch Pad Assessment Centre: Pass at Your First Attempt

Congratulations on passing the Critical Thinker Strengths and Digital Submission Interview stage! Approximately 85% of applicants won’t have made it this far, so you’re already doing very well indeed! It’s time to push ahead and take it to the next level. The fifth stage of the KPMG job application procedure is the LaunchPad Assessment Centre tests.

An Overview:

Stage five of the KPMG job application procedure is the Launch Pad Assessment Centre. Here, you will sit detailed etray exercises, role-play exercises and the group exercise. You could also be asked to retake some aptitude tests with a similar format to the earlier online aptitude tests. The specific aptitude tests you will be retaking depend mainly on the service line you have applied to, although everyone can expect to retake the numerical reasoning test. Furthermore, it is likely that you'd be asked to retake some of the Critical Thinker Assessment or Situational Strengths tests to further affirm certain areas of your Strengths as picked up by the recruiter assessors on the day.

KPMG Launch Pad Assessment Centre Preparation:

After you choose a convenient date from the options offered by KPMG, you will have roughly one to two weeks to prepare. As we all know, job tests can be daunting and how can you be fully confident of putting in a perfect performance if you lack Big Four experience? As long as you can show sufficient drive and enthusiasm, we will give you the support you need to land the job of your dreams.

KPMG Launch Pad Assessment Centre Behavioural Capabilities Criteria:

KPMG has created the assessment centre stage to judge you against KPMG Behavioural Capabilities Criteria. The test will be time-restricted, so you must be able to cope with intense pressure. Our training will ensure that you are fully confident and ready to deal with any eventuality. Imagine the embarrassment and panic caused by ‘freezing up’ at the KPMG launch pad assessment centre exercises and you’ll realise just how important this is.

You will be invited by KPMG to a particular LaunchPad event depending on the service line and geographical area you have applied to. You can download the information on the available KPMG Launch Pad Assessment Centre dates with locations here.

Although KPMG lists out key competencies criteria on their website, they don’t provide detail on the initial and follow-up questions you can expect to face. However, you can draw on the experience of our experts, who have previously worked for Big Four firms, to give you a major advantage in this area.

KPMG Launch Pad Event Assessment Centre Details:

The relevant software has been developed for the company by Cubiks, a renowned global HR consultancy that publishes various psychometric tests for KPMG worldwide. The standard assessment centre exercises are detailed below. Depending on the service line you have applied to, you may also be asked to take on an additional exercise, which will be a presentation made to the KPMG Partner. The topic of the presentation will not be provided beforehand, so you will not get the chance to properly prepare.

1: KPMG Etray Exercise

A. The ‘virtual office’ exercise is based on a computer-based email simulation program like Microsoft Outlook. Questions must all be answered within the one-hour time limit. You will deal with emails and voicemail messages with the aim of building up your knowledge on various work-related situations. Answers are presented in a multiple choice format and will be marked automatically by KPMG’s software upon submission.

B. The ‘analysis’ exercise uses a computer-based word processing simulation like Microsoft Word. All questions must be answered within the 40-minute time limit. You will receive project based fictional information to review and use as the basis for a written report.

2: KPMG Role Play Exercises

A. After completing the etray exercise, you will be going through a 15-minute fictional client meeting so that KPMG can gather some important information before continuing. To refresh your memory on the topics covered and your etray responses, you will be allowed to read a KPMG instructional booklet for a brief period of time.

B. Finally, you will be attending a 15-minute meeting with a KPMG manager. This is based on your responses to the previous two stages (etray exercise and client meeting) and will then develop them further. You will be challenged and cross-questioned on the reasoning behind your suggestions. The partner will be assessing whether or not you correctly understand the topic and the amount of information you managed to gain from the ‘client’.

KPMG only allow you to read the informational booklet for a very short time, you will not be able to digest all information without prior preparation; so you need the relevant information and guidance well in advance. Do not think that you can successfully guess your way through the assessment centre tests, as this is far from the case.

3: KPMG Launch Pad Group Exercise

As you may already have guessed, this exercise will be conducted in groups. This is chiefly for the purpose of assessing your team work and coordination skills although other competency areas will also be taken into account. Applicants will all receive a standard ‘information pack’, to build up their knowledge on the particular topics. Also, each team member will receive their own specific information, which they are expected to share with the team. You will be given 20 minutes to analyse the information pack and additional unique information and will then get a further 30 minutes to discuss it with the group. You should confidently communicate your opinions with other participants, towards reaching a final conclusion.

4: KPMG Self Assessment Form

It is KPMG policy that all attendees fill in a feedback form. The main questions relate to areas of the assessment centre that you particularly liked and/or disliked, your view of your own performance and ways in which KPMG could optimise the process. This form generally takes around 10 minutes to complete and the time you spend on it will be monitored. Your self-assessment form will later be compared against your actual performance marks to assess your ‘self review and personal perception’ skills.

5: Lunch With Colleagues

You will meet up with KPMG trainees and seniors at lunch, where you will be discussing your questions and career aspirations and learning about their views on working for KPMG. This is not just a casual chat though, it is actually a 40-minute informal assessment during which you will be judged on your ethics and manners.

KPMG Launch Pad Assessment Centre Results:

Your performance at the assessment centre will remain on record and is used in KPMG’s final deliberations to determine whether or not your application has been a success. It’s fully possible to successfully get through this stage by scoring a passing mark, yet fail to secure employment when KPMG recruiters take a look at your performances over the application process in its entirety.

KPMG grade your ability on each stage between 1 point and 5. It is assumed by KPMG that if an applicant can demonstrate ‘core capabilities’ and attain the full 5 marks during the assessment centre process then they automatically become a perfect match for the firm.

This means you need to score the maximum 5 points on every single stage to set yourself apart from rival job seekers and cannot afford to take a job test without having been properly prepared by Green Turn.
